Dear Branch members,
We are reminding all to please come and be part of the relief effort in Schoharie this Saturday. We will meet at the Branch building at 8:00 AM for the purpose of car pooling, then at the Schoharie Ward building by 9:00 AM. If it is not practical for you to go first to the Branch then just go directly to Schoharie.
President Standage has ordered food and supplies from the Church welfare system for distribution Saturday. Five local agencies have been selected that will also be involved in this effort. In addition, clean up and reconstruction projects have been identified. 300 "Helping Hands" T-shirts will be on hand with the hopes to fill them with our Stake members this Saturday.
- Wear work clothes and gloves and sturdy foot wear.
- Bring a change of clothes for the ride home, and a plastic bag for your wet and dirty clothes.
- Bring drinks and a lunch for yourself.
The Stake has provided a list of the following items, bring what you can:
For cleaning, mucking (removing mud) etc.:
- shovels,
- buckets,
- rags,
- cleaning brushes,
- old toothbrushes,
- bleach
For tearing down and removing debris:
- Crowbar,
- picks,
- axes,
- construction gloves,
- hammer,
- utility knife,
- Drywall tools : screws, screw drivers, drywall etc.
- Vans and trucks to transport goods to various relief agencies.
All are encouraged to participate, but It is not a suitable environment for children and the work may be physically demanding. Due to the possibility that more flooding happened today, significant mucking may be required.
We add our thanks for those who have already given of their time and effort and hope to see more of the same sacrifice and kindness this Saturday.
Sincerely,
Albany 2nd Branch Presidency
